I Told Sunset About You (2020): Quick Overview of My Thoughts
When Nadao Bangkok released the preliminary poster of “Interpret My Love With Your Heart” (the original English title of “I Told Sunset About You”), I had really high expectations just because it is associated with Nadao Bangkok. I think Nadao Bangkok, together with their parent company GDH 559, have built their identity on producing high-quality content out of Thailand.
And with the last episode of “I Told Sunset About You” concluding just this week, I believe Nadao Bangkok has even surpassed what I expected out of this series. What I like about this the most is that they took the (honestly) cliché school boys arc and elevated it to a level that has never been reached before.
Instead of simply riding the bandwagon of series with school boys as protagonists, “I Told Sunset About You” explored the unexplored feelings of these teenage boys at this time of their life. Despite being only 5 episodes long, this series was able to tell a very deep narrative. The story itself is very strong, but making use of elements such as good cinematography and appropriate musical scoring has made me feel like I’m one with Teh (Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul) and Oh-Aew (PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn).
But I have to admit, after watching Episode 4, I was already preparing for Episode 5 because I thought that ending the series with a cliffhanger to a sequel would’ve been a possibility. However, I was very apprehensive to the idea of a sequel because “I Told Sunset About You” is already good as it is. Surprisingly, this series would have a sequel in March 2021, as mentioned in the last scene. However, I appreciate the fact that they did not end “I Told Sunset About You” in a cliffhanger. It’s as if they are gracefully concluding this chapter of Teh and Oh-Aew’s life because they’re about to start a new chapter.
I will probably write a more in-depth review of this series, after I have processed everything that I feel about this masterpiece.
